270,000 Trees per Day for Toilet

January 8th, 2011

recycled tissue, paper towel from fiberDo you realize that from the toilet, much environmental damage occurred. This is not from human’s waste, but rather from cleaning tools namely tissue. Environmental organization World Wildlife Fund (WWF), from the site, estimating the use of paper towels every day around the world spends 270,000 trees. The amount is mainly for toilet paper products. The use of trees for tissue products is increasingly futile because of the waste tissue cannot or is no longer possible recycled.

WWF says to make tissue, much of the forest cleared for planting eucalyptus trees which is the raw material product. In the future, this logging will threaten forest biodiversity and the life of fauna. We can minimize the effects for environment by choosing recycled paper towels. Unfortunately, tissue paper which is made from fibers of other products is still rare. So the best way for us is to save the use of tissue whenever possible.

The Cause of Greenhouse Gas

November 5th, 2010

greenhouse diagram,greenhouse work

The greenhouse effect, which was first proposed by Joseph Fourier in 1824, is a process of heating the surface of an object (especially a planet or satellite) caused by the composition and state of the atmosphere. Mars, Venus, and other celestial bodies with atmosphere (such as a natural satellite of Saturn, Titan) have greenhouse effect, but this article only discusses the influence on the Earth. The greenhouse effect can be used to designate two different things: the natural greenhouse effect which occurs naturally in the earth, and the enhanced greenhouse effect caused by human activities (see also global warming).

The greenhouse effect caused by rising concentrations of carbon dioxide (CO2) and other gases in the atmosphere. The increase in CO2 concentration is caused by increased burning of fuel oil, coal and other organic fuels which exceed the ability of plants and oceans to absorb them. Read more…

What is Greenhouse Gas Emission?

October 30th, 2010

greenhouse gas effect, emission of greenhouse gas, climate change, global warming, earth temperatureGreenhouse gas are gas that exist in the atmosphere that cause the greenhouse effect. These gas actually appear naturally in the environment, but can also arise due to human activities.

Most of the Greenhouse gas is vapor that reaches the atmosphere due to evaporation of water from the sea, lakes and rivers. Carbon dioxide is the second largest gas. It arose from natural processes such as volcanic eruptions, breathing animals and humans (who inhale oxygen and exhale carbon dioxide), and combustion of organic material (such as plants).

Carbon dioxide can be reduced because absorbed by the oceans and absorbed by plants for use in the process of photosynthesis. Photosynthesis split carbon dioxide and releasing oxygen into the atmosphere as well as taking carbon atoms. Read more…

Why do we have to save our forest?

October 27th, 2010

use of forest,save our forest,plants,wood

We have many reasons to answer question “why we need to save the forest?”. Forests not only absorb the greenhouse gas emissions, but also prevents us from dangerous diseases. That are the results that recently issued from other studies by a national atmospheric research center owned by the United States (NCAR). Researchers from the NCAR argued that at the top of the canopy in dense forests absorb up to 97% VOCs.

“Plants clean the air in a greater degree than we expected,” said Thomas Karl of NCAR, Thursday (21/10), in Washington. VOCs are chemicals as oxygen volatile organic compounds. These compounds are formed in the atmosphere, derived from hydrocarbons and other chemicals from natural and human activities. These compounds contribute to pneumonia to asthma. Read more…

Fossil Fuels are Affecting Global Warming

September 27th, 2010

fossil fuels are affecting global warming, refinery gain fossil fuels from earth, fossil fuels images

Fossil fuels are fuels formed by natural resources such as anaerobic decomposition of buried dead organisms. The age of the organisms and their resulting fossil fuels is typically millions of years, and sometimes exceeds 650 million years. The fossil fuels include coal, petroleum, and natural gas which contain high percentages of carbon. There are two types of energy resources and the fossil fuels come under non renewable resources. This is considered as that resource because of the time taken for their formation. Another reason is that the depletion is at a larger rate than the formation. At some places the fossil fuels are burnt and this gives out carbon dioxide. The carbon dioxide as known popularly is one of the green house gas which is the cause of global warming. Read more…
